Welcome!

We welcome you to the official website for The 2013 Southwest Regional Meeting of the Society of Developmental Biology. This meeting is a wonderful opportunity for students, postdocs and PIs to network and learn about the exciting research being performed across a wide range of organisms. Come to hear our wonderful speakers and to interact with other developmental biologists from the Southwest Region.

Location

This year's meeting will be held at the University Guest House and Conference center, located on the University of Utah campus in Salt Lake City, Utah, on February 14-16, 2013. The University Guest House is a 180 room hotel with connected ballroom and conference space, catering service, and spectacular views of the Wasatch Mountains and the Salt Lake Valley. There is also easy access to local mass transit, low-cost ski buses and the Salt Lake City Airport. Click the Travel & Venue tab for more information.

Speakers

Our invited speakers represent the wide variety of research being done in our region, including a Keynote address by Dr. Mario Capecchi (2007 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine), who will be speaking on mouse models of human disease. A full list of our invited speakers can be seen by clicking the Schedule tab.

To kick off the meeting, we will have an education workshop sponsored by the CHOOSE DEVELOPMENT! program of the Society for Developmental Biology titled "Increasing Diversity in Your Research Environment." Come and learn about the CHOOSE DEVELOPMENT Fellows and Mentors program and the benefits of having a diverse scientific environment. More information is available here.

We will also feature two Poster Sessions open to all attendees. Additional speakers will be chosen from the poster abstract submissions. The best poster and talk will also get a travel scholarship to present at the SDB meeting in Cancun, Mexico next June. Click the Registration & Abstract Submission tab for more information and to submit an Abstract.
